The Turning Point
Rented The Turning Point from Netflix this week and loved it! The dancing is absolutely beautiful and Shirley MacLaine and Anne Bancroft are terrific in this film. If you are a fan of ballet it's a movie you must see! Leslie Browne and Mikhail Baryshnikov are amazing to watch. The film tells the story of two women who were childhood friends and former competitors in the world of ballet. Shirley Maclaine's character, DeeDee, left ballet after becoming pregnant. Ann Bancroft's character, Emma stays with the company and ballet. This daughter grown up is Leslie Browne, also a dancer, who is invited to join the ballet company by Emma. The reunion of DeeDee and Emma stirs up old memories and conflict. Weaved in the film are many ballet performances by the company. :-) I hope I can eventually find this movie somewhere to purchase!

Wonderful Holiday
Had a wonderful Christmas and holiday break! Feeling happy and stuffed after eating lots of good food over the course of this week. Besides spending time with family the past few days (which has been great) I've also spent time with friends I don't get to see often enough. I will also get to have more friend time this week! Hoping to get back to the gym this week, read (got lots of books for Christmas!), and watch movies. Watched 500 Days of Summer today (loved it) and tomorrow I'm going to see Sherlock Holmes. Not many hours of work this week, so it kinda feels like a second week of holiday break!

Emerald City
Watched The Wizard of Oz tonight-and it's actually been quite a few years since I watched the movie in its entirety. When I was a kid my favorite part of the movie was when Dorothy, Toto, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion make it to the Emerald City. I loved all the people dressed in emerald green, the horse of a different color, and the magnificence of it all. So since I'm seeing green I thought I'd find some lovely emerald green fashion inspiration.
Some ladies straight out of the Emerald City (looking fabulous I must add).

Treehouses
As a kid, I always wanted a treehouse. I never had one, though I did end up writing a story about a treehouse that was haunted by a little girl when I was younger. How cool would it have been to play in one of these treehouses as a kid? The top one here actually looks like one you could stay in for awhile. Something about being up with the branches and leaves feels like you're in another world.

In the Christmas Spirit!
This weekend my friend Kati and I had a Christmas cookie factory at her house. At least that's what we called it. :-) There were lots of cookies made-6 different kinds of cookies- sugar cookies, M&M, gooey butter, wedding crunch cookies, chocolate crinkle cookies, and toffee cookies. And they all turned out pretty good! We played Christmas music and baked/ decorated cookies for about 5 1/2 hours. I'm not much of a baker, or a cook for that matter, but it was a lot of fun, and I think we're going to make it an annual tradition. Now I have seven platters/plates of cookies to hand out to family and friends this week. Time to spread some Christmas cheer-only 5 days until Christmas!
