Lately

Lately I've been pretty busy. I'm working full time and I'm enrolled in 2 Fall semester classes-Computer Literacy and Microeconomics. With the juggling act or work and school, I've started to ignore this space. But, I hope to get back to it soon...

Besides a big focus on work and class, I've been having a lot of fun on my weekends. I've been going to festivals, concerts, and spending a lot of time with friends. It has been a nice balance.

Recent highlights:
-St. Louis Cardinals games
-Garrett and Amanda's wedding
-Loufest music festival
-Dancing in the Street Festival
-Sarah Jarosz show
-Best of Missouri Market

I'm approaching the halfway point of the semester so it's time to really buckle down now and focus on my studies!

Summer Ending...

The end of August is drawing near. The St. Louis Muny season is over, evenings are a little cooler, and some of the summer fun is starting to wind down.

I'm enjoying relaxing summer evenings this week, but next week I'm going to be busy with the start of Fall semester classes. I am taking a computer class (Microsoft Office 2013) and a Microeconomics course this semester at the local community college which will be a total of 6 credit hours. I'm sure it will be a little challenging trying to balance work and school, but I think it will be good for me.

Here's what is coming up this next month or so:
- This week- hanging out with my friend, Jiyoung, who is in town for a little while
- This Thursday- St. Louis Cardinals game with Dad
- Possible Lake of Ozarks trip or two
- Classes beginning next week
- Garrett and Amanda's wedding next weekend
- Labor Day
- Loufest -maybe going to this (September 7-8)
- Jazz & Blues Festival (September 21)
- St Louis Cardinals game (September 28)

Sunday Dinner

Last month we invited Grandma and Grandpa over on a pretty summer evening for dinner. I love Sunday dinners with family. We used to do Sunday dinners more often when my step siblings were still living at home. Now we might go out to eat on a Sunday, but usually my mom and Carl go out of town (at least in the summer) so I just do something on my own.  But, last month there was a rare Sunday where we could all get together and enjoy an evening with family.

Grandpa got a new Cardinals shirt for Father's Day. Go Cards!

Carl barbequed and all the food was excellent as usual.

Have I mentioned before that I love our backyard and our view of the woods? Ah, this neighborhood, it makes me never want to leave. So pretty.

Pool Party!

My friend, Kati, got a pool this summer, and on 4th of July weekend she invited Stephanie and I over for a little party. We went swimming, grilled food, watched a movie (An American in Paris ,which I wrote about a few posts ago), and played board games. Most importantly, it was a day filled with quality friend time.

We had bomb pop drinks and enjoyed some junk food, because hey it's a barbeque. :-)

I think Kati's dogs, Penny and Sarge had a good time too!

Kerrie Yeung Silver Stacking Ring

I love the stacking ring trend that is popular now. These thin silver stacking rings from Kerrie Yeung caught my eye and would look great separately or worn together.

4th of July Fun

This year on the 4th of July I went to the Muny with friends to see Nunsense. Since we didn't get to see fireworks on the 4th, we went to the JB Blast in St. Louis on July 5th to get our fireworks fix. It was a fun couple of days with friends.

Kati and Stephanie with ice cream from Snarfs in the Loop.

Kati and Stephanie before the fireworks show at the JB Blast. I love their bright sneakers!

There was live music (very far away) but we could still hear it from where we were sitting.

The fireworks show was impressive!

Lovely Things

I have many photos to share from the past couple of weeks, but I haven't transferred the photos off my phone yet. So...in the meantime, here are some lovely items that have caught my eye recently:

An American in Paris

I was a little late in getting around to watching this, but I finally watched the musical, An American in Paris this past weekend. My favorite musical is Singin' in the Rain, largely because of Gene Kelly and his great dancing, so it is no surprise that I also loved An American in Paris. Those golden years of musicals-1940s and 1950s were truly something special. I can't believe how talented these people were-so many triple threats with the singing, dancing, and acting.

My friends and I had intentions of playing board games and playing this movie in the background but within 5 minutes we were sucked into the movie (1 out of 3 had already seen it) and we didn't play a game until the movie was over.

I'm happy that it is Muny season and I get to see a musical live every week. This week is South Pacific, next week is Les Miserables, then Mary Poppins, and last West Side Story. Very excited for that last stretch of shows!

Besides seeing musicals every week, I'm also in the mood to rent more classic musicals. What are your favorites?

Fireworks Fun

Last Tuesday (a couple days before the 4th) I got together with friends for an early 4th of July celebration. I went to my friend, Kati's mom's house for pizza and fireworks. We also squeezed in a viewing of SYTCD. :-)

Kati and Nick bought sparklers, roman candles, and several other fireworks. They even bought a few large fireworks which were quite a surprise during the finale! A few neighbors were grouchy about the noise, but most people enjoyed watching the fireworks too.

And a few videos of silly fireworks fun:
